About Dr. Whitmore

Dr. Hannah Whitmore, PhD, RN, CHPN, is a certified hospice and palliative care nurse, clinician scientist, and advocate for patient-centered care. With over a decade of interdisciplinary experience, she has supported individuals, families, and care teams through serious illness and end-of-life transitions in settings including at-home hospice, hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and now clinical research trials.

Dr. Whitmore helps demystify the serious illness journey by guiding clients and care teams in accepting difficult situations and prognoses, and recognizing these as a natural part of life. She brings nearly two decades of mindfulness meditation training with her Tibetan Buddhist teachers, offering a distinct depth of presence and calm to her work.

As a post-doctoral fellow at UCSF, her research focuses on innovative approaches to end-of-life care, including psychedelic-assisted therapy for demoralization and existential distress.
